Degoma Game Studio
Overview
Degoma is an Amsterdam-based indie game studio, best known for their toony platformer Reggie, His Cousin, Two Scientists and Most Likely the End of the World. I joined as an intern in 2019, stayed for 5 months and was immediately offered freelance work upon finishing. A collaboration that lasted until 2022.
From Intern to Freelancer
Degoma was looking for someone who could both program and think about game design. That combination was a natural fit. At the end of my internship they extended a freelance offer and later wrote a LinkedIn recommendation reflecting their satisfaction with the work.

Reggie, His Cousin, Two Scientists and Most Likely the End of the World is a toony gravity-switching platformer with a unique 2D hand-animated art style and fully animated cutscenes. During my internship I worked across a wide range of tasks, from gameplay programming and level design to platform porting, with enough autonomy to pick tasks that matched my interests and push my skills.

A highlight of the internship was contributing to the Nintendo Switch port, my first experience with console platform development. I also represented Degoma at the White Nights Amsterdam games fair, pitching and showcasing Reggie to industry professionals.
